The Picture of Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Paperback - English

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel written by Oscar Wilde, first published in 1890. The story follows the life of a wealthy and handsome young man named Dorian Gray, who becomes infatuated with his own beauty and youth. After having his portrait painted by a talented artist, Dorian makes a wish that he could remain young and beautiful forever, while the portrait would age and show the effects of his sins.As Dorian becomes more and more corrupted by his own desires and vices, his portrait begins to show the physical decay of his soul. Despite his outward beauty, Dorian becomes increasingly depraved and cruel, causing harm to those around him without remorse. Meanwhile, his portrait serves as a haunting reminder of the true nature of his soul. The novel explores themes of beauty, morality, and the corrupting influence of power and wealth. It is considered a classic of English literature, and has been adapted into numerous films, plays, and other works of art.Lord Henry elevated his eyebrows and looked at him in amazement through the thin blue wreaths of smoke that curled up in such fanciful whorls from his heavy, opium-tainted cigarette.
