About Author
Isabel L. Beck, PhD, is Professor of Education in the School of Education and Senior Scientist at the Learning Research and Development Center, both at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a public school teacher before starting her career at the university, where she teaches reading education courses and conducts research. Dr. Beck7;s work has been acknowledged by awards from the International Reading Association, the National Reading Conference, and the American Federation of Teachers<BR>
