The Complete Angler
The Complete Angler
Hardcover - English

The Complete Angler is a classic book on fishing written by Izaak Walton. First published in 1653, it is a comprehensive guide to the art of angling, covering everything from the different types of fish and their habitats to the equipment and techniques used for catching them. The book is divided into five parts, each of which explores a different aspect of fishing. The first part is a dialogue between the author and his friend, in which they discuss the joys of fishing and the different types of fish that can be caught. The second part is a detailed guide to the different types of fish and the best ways to catch them. The third part is a collection of recipes for cooking fish, while the fourth part is a guide to the different types of fishing equipment and how to use them. The final part is a collection of songs and poems about fishing. The Complete Angler is not only a practical guide to fishing, but also a celebration of the joys of nature and the pleasures of a simple life. It has been widely read and admired for centuries, and remains a classic of English literature.Trust me, Sir, there is not a likely place for a Trout hereabout: and we staid so long to take our leave of your huntsmen this morning, that the sun is got so high, and shines so clear, that I will not undertake the catching of a Trout till evening. And though a Chub be, by you and many others, reckoned the worst of fish, yet you shall see I'll make it a good fish by dressing it.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. About Author
Izaak Walton, one of the earliest English biographers who is best remembered as the author of The Compleat Angler, was born in the parish of St. Mary's, at Stafford, on August 9, 1593. His father, Gervase Walton, was an innkeeper who died when the boy was five. By the time Walton was twenty he was living in London, apprenticed to his brother-in-law, a prosperous clothier. His marriage to Rachel Floud, a relative of Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, in 1626 allied him with a prominent clerical family, and as a parishioner at St. Dunstan's Church Walton became a close friend of its vicar, John Donne. <
