The Time Machine
The Time Machine
Hardcover - English

The Time Machine is a science fiction novel written by H.G. Wells. The story follows an unnamed time traveler who builds a machine that can transport him through time. He travels to the year 802,701 AD and discovers a world very different from his own. The human race has evolved into two distinct species: the Eloi, who live in idleness and pleasure, and the Morlocks, who live underground and prey on the Eloi. The time traveler becomes embroiled in the conflict between the two species and struggles to find a way back to his own time. The novel explores themes of evolution, societal decay, and the nature of humanity. First published in 1895, The Time Machine is considered a classic of science fiction and has been adapted into various films and television shows. The Time Traveller (for so it will be convenient to speak of him) was expounding a recondite matter to us. His grey eyes shone and twinkled, and his usually pale face was flushed and animated. The fire burned brightly, and the soft radiance of the incandescent lights in the lilies of silver caught the bubbles that flashed and passed in our glasses. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Wells' literary works are notable for being some of the first titles of the science fiction genre, and include such famed titles as The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and The Invisible Man. Despite being fixedly associated with science fiction, Wells wrote extensively in other genres and on many subjects, including history, society and politics, and was heavily influenced by Darwinism.
