Crime and Punishment
Hardcover - English

Crime and Punishment is a novel written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, published in 1866. It tells the story of Rodion Raskolnikov, a poor and desperate former student who decides to commit a murder in order to prove his superiority and to help his family. However, after the murder, Raskolnikov is haunted by guilt and fear, and he is eventually caught by the police. The novel explores themes of morality, guilt, redemption, and the consequences of one's actions. It also delves into the psychology of the characters, particularly Raskolnikov, who struggles with his own beliefs and justifications for his actions.Throughout the story, Raskolnikov interacts with a variety of characters, including his love interest, Sonya, a prostitute who represents the possibility of redemption; Porfiry Petrovich, the detective who is trying to solve the murder case; and Svidrigailov, a wealthy and corrupt man who is connected to the murder.Crime and Punishment is considered one of the greatest works of literature and a masterpiece of psychological realism. It has been adapted into numerous films, plays, and television series, and its themes and characters continue to be studied and analyzed by scholars and readers alike.Mistrustfully and with an affectation of being alarmed and almost affronted, he scanned Raskolnikov's low and narrow ""cabin."" With the same amazement he stared at Raskolnikov, who lay undressed, dishevelled, unwashed, on his miserable dirty sofa, looking fixedly at him. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
