Nanotechnology and nanomaterials have impacted all engineering, science and technology sectors owing to their superior properties and performance profiles as compared to the conventional materials. A large number of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies have been developed in the recent years, which have expanded the application horizons significantly. Though a number of challenges are needed to be resolved in order to achieve large scale commercial applications, however, it is envisaged that the recent research developments in this field will lead to high-performance, safe and environmentally friendly materials and processes capable of replacing the conventional materials.
