John Montgomery is an epigrapher and artist who lectures on Maya hieroglyphs. His works published by Hippocrene Books include <i>Tikal: An Illustrated History of the Ancient Maya Capital</i> (2001) and <i>Dictionary of Maya Hieroglyphs</i> (2002), which presents more than 1200 glyphs with phonetic spelling, Mayan equivalent, and definition. Montgomery resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
