The Lunar Trilogy or The Moon Trilogy is a trilogy of science fiction novels by the Polish writer Jerzy Zulawski, written between 1901 and 1911. The first volume, On the Silver Globe, describes, in the form of a diary, the story of a marooned expedition of Earth astronauts who found a colony on the Moon. After several generations, they lose most of their knowledge and are ruled by a religious cult. The second volume, The Conqueror, focuses upon the colonists' anticipated Messiah, another traveler from Earth. After initial success, he fails to meet their expectations and is killed in an allegory to the death of Jesus Christ. The third volume, The Old Earth, describes the visit of two Lunar colonists to 27th-century Earth. It is ones of the early works of science fiction, long recognized as an influential work that has not previously been available in English.

Disillusioned from representing the guilty, Spencer Tallbridge signs on as an assistant prosecutor looking for justice in the legal system, and in an office renowned for capital case convictions. There, his early idealism and country wisdom, garnered at his father's knee, collide with unforseen realities of life and death for those facing the ultimate penalty. With a clandestine effort and marshaling all his skills with the examination of evidence, he sets out to assuage the grief and unfounded guilt of a mother who blames herslf, the legal system and all prosecutors for her only son's imminent execution. This he does by setting out to prove her son's guilt beyond any doubt, and takes him to places that test his ethics, his oath as an assistant prosecutor and his father's admonition against 'grinding into the quick' to find the truth. 'A Gentleman's War' is a simple game involving toy soldiers of the classic style. It is a relaxed
and relaxing game, where enough depends on the turn of a card and the roll of a handful of
dice to say that our disasters are pure chance, but enough cunning decision-making to claim
our victories as acts of brilliant generalship.
Our model soldiers are very brave, obedient, and generally do what we want them to. Players
are expected to behave in a friendly manner, and conduct themselves as gentlemen (or ladies,
as is appropriate). There are lots of six-sided dice, saving rolls, proper distances in inches,
and a general sense that there ought to be salmon-and-cucumber sandwiches and tea, or
beer.
