A lifeless girl slips into the river, cold and crumpled. Her body washes away with the rain.
Her killer remains a mystery.
Sheriff Elven Hallie has been longing for a new case that would add some excitement to his small-town life.
But a dead girl wasn't what he expected.
On the last murder case he worked, he was just a deputy with an experienced Sheriff to guide him and they were looking for an outsider.
This time, he's in charge, and the killer is part of their community.
Short-staffed, and newly elected, Elven has an entire West Virginia county to police. With the help of his new deputy, Maddison Cook, Elven must navigate between Dupray's rich and poor.
It's an uphill battle the entire way.
With pressures mounting from the townspeople, county officials, and his own sense of duty, will he be able to catch the killer? Or will another body surface, pulling Elven in over his head?

A dead man in the woods. A corrupt game warden. A silver-tongued preacher.
And a whole lot of drugs.
When Sheriff Elven Hallie investigates a murder, the evidence seems self-explanatory. But when he digs in, things get more complicated.
Following a lead, he visits a revival in the woods led by smooth-talking preacher Spencer Caldwell. The hunters in the area are already angry, having filed numerous complaints about the operation. But it isn't until Elven goes to see the man himself that he knows something is off.
If that wasn't enough, game warden Jesse Parsons arrives in Dupray to assist in the murder investigation. But Elven quickly questions Jesse's motives when he's found being friendly with Hollis, the head of the Starcher criminal family.
When a witness is discovered, it leads to more questions. And a lot more bodies.
But when his deputy is put in danger, Elven knows he's running out of time and must take a more direct approach to solve the crime.
Can he solve the murders before someone he loves is killed, or will his drastic measures cost him more than just his job?

In recent years, Blessed Columba Marmion's writings and teaching have become increasingly available to the faithful throughout the world. The depth of his spiritual knowledge and the beauty and simplicity of his teaching have not been lost to us. Yet what still remains is a portrait of this great saint.
The present biography fills in this gap. Compiled of essentially two parts, Dom Raymond Thibault first traces the historical details of Blessed Marmion's life to reveal a man tried by suffering, joyful in the Lord, and truly heroic in the way that he shepherded his flock. From his humble and difficult beginnings in Ireland to the height of his reputation as a spiritual master all the way to the trials of his abbacy, you will discover the story of a simple and saintly man close to the heart of his Lord.
In the second portion of Thibault's biography, the portrait turns to the spiritual life and import of Blessed Marmion and is itself a spiritual masterpiece. The spiritual narrative of Marmion's life gives the impression that you are following Marmion himself as a spiritual director and leader on the path to union with God. Filled with quotations from his letters, conferences, personal conversations, and more, you will find yourself coming away from a veritable feast that will keep you going, and to which you can return, for the rest of your life. Rarely will you find a biography so edifying.

Monemvasia is a unique Byzantine city located on a rock in the southern Peloponnese; the central fortified are is known as the Castro. Poul Rasmussen, a Danish photographer, captured a period of physical and social change between 1968-1992. The local families were deserting the old buildings of the Castro, and moving to the mainland for work and for a more modern way of life. Throughout this period, the Castro maintained the role as the heart of the community.
Poul Rasmussen (1929 - 1993) was a world famous Danish photographer. He became a permanent resident in the area in 1966. As a renowned international photographer, he photographed Monemvasia's community life during a period of significant change. His portraits are a remarkable record.
He captured the changing face of the mainland village as the Castro was increasingly abandoned. Importantly, he shows the institutions of community life, the church and national and local festivals, were still taking place on the Rock, remaining the heart of this community. Collectively, the images display the last years of migration from the Castro, before the impact of tourism.
