Tell me your nightmares. . .
One night changes everything.
Ember doesn't know how, but on the brink of death, she calls to them. They come in the darkness, like phantoms in masks, and rescue her from her pain. But that rescue comes with a price. Her soul. She must give all she is to the Cirque, where it doesn't only house you, it owns you.
Nothing is ever as it seems and the truth behind the striped curtain is no small matter. Can Ember keep her vow? Can she embrace the madness the Cirque demands?
After all, the Cirque isn't just a home for freaks and runaways, but also for those who will kill to protect it. They'll carve a bloody path through the world, preying on the predators no one else dares to. When the Cirque calls, they answer.
The Cirque demands blood.
It demands payment.
And pay Ember must, with her soul or theirs. . .

Witches are supposed to be good, powerful, and omniscient, but unluckily for me, I seem to lack all of those qualities.
I have been battling the darkness that lives within me since birth, destined to eradicate goodness from our world, but one day, I have no choice but to embrace who and what I am.
In order to stop the destruction of the world as we know it, I must put my trust in not only myself, but also my unlikely companions.
When all is said and done, and all that is left is dust, can I go back to how I was, or will I be lost in the shadows forever?
Welcome to the Court of Heathens, where darkness conquers all.
Welcome to the kingdom of Dresha, where power is everything, and the subjects are used as pawns.

That man turns out to be none other than the king.
With his sights set on Alyx and the skills she possesses, he offers her a deal she cannot refuse-pretend to be his betrothed and discover who is plotting to kill him in return for everything she has ever desired.
What the king doesn't know is the only thing she truly desires is revenge.
Kingdoms will rise or fall, friendships will be broken, and truth's will be revealed.
Can you survive the Kingdom of Crowns and Daggers?

My name is Kai Black and I'm no longer the woman stolen by the Gilded King. I've been shattered and remade into something different. Something new.
If only I had known that I would be re-born from darkness, the same darkness that the monsters find me in.
If only I'd known who the real monsters are.
Shadows save us. Shadows guide us.
Shadows heal me.
