Bats can hear shapes.
Plants can eat light.
Bees can dance maps.
We can hold all these ideas at once
and feel both heavy and weightless
with the absurd beauty of it all.

In recent years, the practice of yoga has been heavily westernized. Some might criticize how far we have deviated from its origins, yet yoga's increasing popularity has touched many more lives than it otherwise would have. While an asana practice is becoming a normal part of the day for many of us, yoga's deeper teachings are often left unexplored.
The Yamas and Niyamas are a foundational part of yoga beyond asana. The Yamas show us how our choices and actions impact the world and its people. Their practice helps us step lightly through life as we become more intentional. The Niyamas teach us about ourselves. When we focus inward, we begin to notice patterns that reveal our opportunities, our purpose, and our truest self.
Being Human explores each Yama and Niyama from a lens of imperfection and without the expectation of a destination. When we begin our journey knowing that there is no finish line, we open doors we might have left closed. And when we accept that we can't get it right or wrong, we create space for life to unfold without expectation.

For far too long, there has been a shortage of literature that addresses adult issues and experiences in a way that is both easily readable and meaningful for readers of all levels. That's what inspired us to write What Do You Want on Your Pancakes? Our collection of short stories and a play uses easy language, big print, and pictures to enhance readability and comprehension. We also make sure each page ends with a complete sentence.
Originally, we had the members of our Next Chapter Book Club (NCBC) in mind when writing What Do You Want on Your Pancakes? The Next Chapter Book Club is a literacy program established in 2002 at the Ohio State University by Dr. Tom Fish. NCBC is a community-based book club program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) that provides weekly opportunities for members to read and learn together, talk about books, and make friends in a community setting.
Beyond being full of easy-to-read selections, What Do You Want on Your Pancakes? is also interactive! The stories and the play include questions or thoughts interspersed throughout for the reader to consider. This was done to spark conversation and to help readers focus on the issues addressed in each selection.
Another unique feature of this book is that, at the end of each selection, readers can access hands-on activities related to what they have just read. These activities are fun, creative, and can be completed either individually or as a group.
Having completed What Do You Want on Your Pancakes?, we realize that our targeted readership goes well beyond the members of our Next Chapter Book Clubs. We are hoping the selections in our book ring true with a wide range of readers. After all, everyone should have access to a good book! Happy reading, one and all!
Kay and George Conklin walked into my office at Ohio Wesleyan University on a beautiful April morning. Kay carried a large stack of papers as her husband gave me a nervous but friendly smile. The 87-year-old woman had a determined look. Are you John McGory? Someone said I should come talk to you. Yes, I am. What can I do for you? The usual visitors to my office were tired-eyed college students pleading for a break of some kind so two elderly individuals had me baffled. I want a book, Kay said as she plunked down the big stack of papers onto my desk with a thud. This conversation started my wonderful historical journey into a past world of small-town American life. Kay Conklin personifies the American Dream. She grew up a middle child of a large farming family that struggled through the Depression, living in seven different homes throughout central Ohio. The early homes had no electricity or running water.from high school with no money, car, job, or hopes of going to college.

What it would feel like to be a chocolate cake, or

New Love, Spilt Milk, and Potbellied Pigs explores these questions and many more. The diverse stories, plays, and poems in this book are relatable and easy to read. If you are looking to have fun, laugh out loud, explore your thoughts and emotions, and read about real life, you have picked the right book
The Chants of the Mass for Sundays, Solemnities, and Feasts.
This book reveals a foundational message in the word of God, which the prophets of Israel foresaw over the course of many centuries. Prepare for a journey, one where hidden treasures from the Hebrew Bible are unveiled, revealing God's end-time plans.
God's message to us is enormous and, once seen, looms over the text like the proverbial elephant in the room. Without understanding these ancient messages, we may fail to do our part in establishing the Kingdom of God. Yet how can the doors be opened if we don't have the proper keys?
The 30 pieces of silver that Judas was paid for betraying Jesus were found in Israel. The Franciscan monks of Jerusalem sent the coins to the Vatican Museums for authentication and safekeeping - but then they disappeared The Holy Father naturally must call upon his special agent, Sister Philomena, to find them. The search for the coins leads Sister Philomena, Riley, and Delaney on a harrowing ride through Rome with that crazy Sister Lisa Renee at the wheel. In the hunt for the coins, the reader gets to visit some of the great Basilicas of Rome and discover the many relics of the Passion of Jesus that are preserved in the basilicas.
Through meticulous research, Hidden Disgrace pierces through the veil of descriptions of Indians as either savages or Noble Savages and describes them as real people with both strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, it takes a hard look at the notion the conquest of North and South America by Europeans was inevitable and was, in reality, the result of deliberate choices.
Books that dive beneath the superficial explanations of Westward Expansion are often criticized as being revisionist history. Such claims ignore the obvious explanation that aspects of history cannot be revised if they were never reported properly in the recording of history.
Among other historically documented myths, Hidden Disgrace explains why the casting of the Wounded Knee Massacre as the result of an attempt to suppress an uprising fueled by the Ghost Dance is patently absurd. Important facts surrounding that dark episode in United States history are often ignored, miscast, or misrepresented altogether.
With this work, the author seeks to shed light on the true course of history.
THE TWILIGHT BEFORE THE STORM EXAMINES WHAT IS ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE FACING HUMANITY: HOW CAN WE AVOID A WORLD ON FIRE?
The next decade promises to be the most critical period in the transition from today's capitalism toward a yet-to-be defined alternative system. Viktor Shvets, global strategist, asks: Will it be capitalism or communism, feudalism or despotism? The fusion of the disruptive Information Age and deep Financialization (aggravated by generational change and climate) is destabilizing every aspect of our lives-from the role and functioning of labor and capital to political systems, from the private sphere to morality, from education to entertainment.
The world faced similar disorientation in the 1930s. At this time the choice was not between freedom or slavery, but how much freedom needed to be sacrificed to avoid the worst outcomes. There were three choices on the menu: communism, fascism, or constrained democracy. With free market liberalism discredited, the question was not whether to plan economies and societies, but how far state's control should spread, and how much free space should be left for the private sector and markets.
Today, we are in a place not so different, with the neo version of the free-market liberalism once again discredited, causing 1930s-style fractures. With the new consensus on the right model not yet formed, alternatives are proliferating. Tensions are on the rise. Are we bound to relive a world on fire of the 1940s, or transit toward a more placid but constrained 1950s-60s? The Twilight Before the Storm examines how and where conflicts might arise-from cold and hot to civil and hungry wars-and suggests policies that might lower tensions and defang extremes. We have options. Will we exercise them in time to avoid the worst? How will future generations judge us?
Discover the rewards of uniting two of the Catholic Church's most beloved devotions. In this new book, Shane Kapler provides 20 reflections - paired with 40 classic works of art - demonstrating the riches that flow from interspersing our praying of the decades of the Rosary with the Divine Mercy Chaplet. By marrying the two together in this way, the mysteries of the Rosary reveal the Cross's relationship to every aspect of our Lord's life, and the Chaplet becomes a means for joining Mary at the foot of her Son's Cross and invoking God's mercy upon ourselves and our world.
Alex the dinosaur has a great imagination. He dreams up an exciting pirate adventure, and along with his parents, he ventures out on treacherous seas in search of treasure in this real-life inspired story.
The World of Lost Socks is a heartwarming and imaginative tale that follows the journey of a sock boy named Dan as he searches for his missing twin. On his quest, Dan stumbles upon a vibrant world filled with socks of all shapes, sizes, and colors. These socks, though different in every way, have found harmony by embracing their unique qualities and living together in unity.
Through Dan's adventure, young readers are introduced to themes of uniqueness, acceptance, and belonging. The story beautifully illustrates the importance of recognizing and celebrating differences, teaching children that everyone is unique and valuable, just like the socks in Dan's world.
Originally inspired by a playful discussion with his family in 2011 about lost socks in the laundry, author Danny Ortiz crafted this story to convey a timeless message: our differences have value, and when we come together, we create a richer, more colorful world. Perfect for children and families, The World of Lost Socks is a delightful read that encourages empathy, connection, and the celebration of individuality and community. This charming book will become a treasured part of any child's library, offering lessons that resonate long after the final page is turned.

Perched on a plateau above the quiet town of Newton Falls, surrounded by dense pine forests, Gristholme is home to powerful entities both mystical and menacing.
At the heart of the conflict are the Artificers, a secretive group led by Resin Kirkbride, a campus safety officer with mysterious eldritch powers. The Artificers are dedicated to protecting the students from arcane threats and ensuring that dark magic does not wreak havoc on the campus.
Opposing them is the sinister Gredalia Council, which seeks to use Gristholme's students as pawns in their grand scheme to establish a new world order through dark magic.
Lucia Frey, a young witch and student at Gristholme, finds herself caught between these two powerful factions.
