Divided by Circumstance. United by Football.
Two types of folks live in Pottsville, Texas. Those who have two jobs and those who have two houses. But no matter their address, Friday night football brings every soul in town together under the same stadium lights. Problem is, the have-nots always watch from the sidelines. Until now ...
Four years ago, Reed Maddox made a deathbed promise to his mother before the cancer claimed her life: Take care of their family. To make good on his vow, Reed has agreed to a pact forcing him to abandon his dream of playing football-his one guaranteed ticket out of the trailer park. But when he throws a reckless pass from the sidelines, everything he's tried to protect is threatened including his guarded heart.
To regain her title as cheer captain and unofficial crown as princess of Pottsville, knock-out Savannah Kensington is about to brush elbows with Reed Maddox and his hooligan friends. But Little Miss Perfect's world has been upside down longer than anyone who's seen her winning smile would realize. Still scarred by the death of her baby sister, she hides her feelings under the pretense of popularity. When the opportunity to reclaim her senior year involves a secret deal to help Reed, Savannah accepts.
When their two pacts collide, revealing Reed's football talent and upending everything Savannah knows about her personal kingdom, Pottsville High implodes. The have-nots are invading, the painted white lines are blurring, and Savannah and Reed are locked together in the middle of a battle between circumstance and privilege. Can their new alliance unite the stands or will the ingrained hatred of a town divided tear apart their chance at happily ever after?

Elder Orphan Care provides help and hope for older adults in need, both in western Romania, where our ministry was birthed, and in Cabarrus and Rowan counties of North Carolina, where we are based.
In Romania, we partner with pastors to provide shelter, medical care, and nutrition for hundreds of people who are elder orphans, while sharing with the love of God and the hope found only in Jesus.
In North Carolina, we serve adults aged sixty and older who wish to remain in their homes but are at risk of losing that ability due to safety concerns, poverty, or lack of support. We provide friendship, occupational therapy-based assessments, and minor home modifications, as well as assistance with groceries and other necessities.
It is our desire to love our (older) neighbors, wherever they may be, with the love of God that has been lavished on us (1 John 3:1).
His powers could save the ocean. Her vendetta could sink a kingdom.
Captain Elouise Farrington, the youngest pirate on the Caviar Sea, seeks revenge on her father's killer. But when her oddly hypnotic foe proposes a pact to kill the Siren Queen and end the War of the Sea's bloodshed, she must make a choice. Put aside her long-brewing retribution or act the underhanded pirate and use the alliance to claim the life of the man who destroyed her family?
Captain Rylander Bordeaux, the revered royal navy captain of the Isle of Cava, has one mission-kill the Siren Queen and end the War of the Sea. The ocean is the only place Rylander calls home, but to bring peace to his beloved waves, he must defeat his past so he can reshape the future. His greatest hope is Captain Elouise, who calls to him like no siren song ever has. Too bad she's almost as bloodthirsty as the fanged heart-eaters themselves. She promises to lend her all-female crew to his war on the sirens, but can he trust a brigand-especially one who wants him dead-to uphold her end of the bargain? Or will she be his undoing?

A page-turning adventure written and illustrated by award-winning artist and author Alex Raffi in the tradition of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. A magical tale of a boy named Richard who launches a boat into the vast mysteries of the open sea, searching for something more from his life. The first person he meets on his voyage is a little girl in a rabbit mask named Lorelei, who vehemently denies that she is a rabbit. Together they discover the beauty and danger in the world, and with the help of a few more crew-mates consisting of a failed pirate, a girl with wings made of clock parts, a villainous tiger, and a wise old sea turtle, they embark on an adventure in search of something more. In the end, they are surprised by what they discover about the world and themselves.
A relatable story to readers of various ages for different reasons. In it are lessons that can reveal themselves based on the progressing stages in life. It speaks to the moment we all experience when we first step into the world on our own terms. The moment we begin living life without a safety net given to us by our parents. And the discoveries we all make as we progress and grow through our lives.
Richard represents everyone who, at some point, decided to start their life away from their family. The boat represents their life. As the story grows, so does the boat symbolizing the growth of his friendships and experience. The ocean represents the world. It is deep and mysterious and frightening. Always beckoning the protagonist to jump in and experience it and all its joys and dangers. The characters introduced represent moments in my life and individuals who have made a strong impact on me.

This is the final edition of a memoir by James Lewis. From law school to retirement in Albuquerque, NM, enjoy the memories of a civil rights lawyer from New York, to Springfield, to Albuquerque. Enjoy the introduction below.
On July 28, 1940, in New York City, in the afternoon, Mom (Desna) delivers me into this world, and I meet my Dad (Stephen) and my older brother (Steve Jr). When World War II begins, we follow Dad while he serves in the Navy, ordering equipment. After the war, Dad returns to a successful business career, and we move to the New York suburbs.
My life is comfortable, with good schools and summer camps. I read a lot, bike a lot and play sports. In my teen years, I browse through my parents' library and read John Hersey's The Wall and Hiroshima, about life and death in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Holocaust and in Hiroshima just before and right after the Atomic Bomb, and I begin to question the world outside my well-protected environment-a world where some people destroy others. In high school, I write a paper that compares the love and caring that many extend to others with the opposites of caring: hate and indifference. Then in my senior year, I write a 20-page research paper about conformity, asking the basic question in David Riesman's The Lonely Crowd: are we independent and hardened for voyages or dependent and softened for encounters?
Before becoming a leader of people, one must become a leader of self and be intentional about their life.
The key is to keep reinforcing your spiritual, personal, and professional growth foundation. It is a repetitive process that doesn't end. As we age, we grow into new behaviors, experiences, and relationships. Life will always bring new opportunities (some people look at it as problems). However, it's all part of your growth process. You must appreciate, know, and believe that each morning is a new day, and you get another chance to move toward your goals and purpose. Remember, yesterday is gone, so apologize to those you hurt, forgive those who hurt you, and forgive yourself. I believe there are three foundational principles in your life that you must continue to strive for until your last day on earth.
1. You must have FAITH and apply God's teaching to your life.
2. You must stay PHYSICALLY FIT to execute on your belief and goals.
3. You must continue to EDUCATE YOURSELF in your art (spiritual, professional, and personal endeavors).
To achieve your calling or dream requires prioritizing your life and hard work. We all have a CHOICE to make about life. However, executing that choice requires energy, strategy, discipline, resilience, and consistency.
This is a story about a little girl who is too excited to sleep. So her dad gives her some advice his father gave him once or twice. Why don't you start counting sheep? He says. And so it begins...This story was originally written in 2000 but truly came to life once my daughter Elizabeth was born in 2003. Her whimsical spirit and boundless imagination inspired me to illustrate and complete the book in 2010. This is a full-color children's book. Written in rhyme. Great for kids between the ages of 4 and 10. I've also included a small drawing with numbers lesson. I hope you and your child have as much fun reading it as I did making it. Enjoy, and have sweet dreams.
