THE GREAT EDIFICE of Islamic Law is held up by four towering figures of the early middle ages: Abu Hanifa, Malik, al-Shafi i, and Ibn Hanbal. Because of their immense dedication and intellectual acuity, these men enjoy recognition to this day as Islam s most influential scholars. By assessing and ranking hadith, by cultivating a deep knowledge of the Arabic language, and by virtue of their great native intelligence, they are credited with having shaped the development of the fundamental systems of Muslim jurisprudence, avoiding the twin pitfalls of subjective rationalism and blind literalism. By doing so they not only protected their religion from chaos and disorder, but showed the Muslims, both ordinary and expert, the safest and most reliable ways of avoiding error in the understanding and practice of the divine law. This detailed study offers biographies of these four men and their leading pupils. It surveys the distinctive features of their jurisprudence, and assesses their achievement. An especially helpful feature is a long and detailed glossary of Islamic technical terms. Meticulously rooted in the core texts of Islamic scholarship, this book will be an important resource for Shari a students everywhere.

Review by Imam Muhammad Sa'id Ramadan al-Buti
I read this epistle of his. All it took to make me read it was its title that shines with the marks of appreciation for others, purity of purpose, and the motivation of cooperation in the way of seeking Divine good pleasure: Advice to Our Brothers the Scholars of Najd. Had I seen something contrary to these elements in the title I would not have paid any attention to the book nor wasted dearly precious time reading it.
When I began to read it I saw exactly what conformed with the promise of the title and fulfilled it: a quiet, kind reminder and counsels that show true jealous concern over the Religion of Allah as well as pure concern for those brethren lest they stray from the path of Allah.
I reviewed the counsels of my brother, Sayyid Yusuf al-Rifa'i, to those brothers from the first to the last. Then I weighed those counsels in the scales of the Divine Law as I understand them to be, its proofs, and its source-texts. I found him in the right in all of his advices and warnings to them. More than that, he is truly speaking, in this capacity, in the name of all the Ulema of the Muslims who follow the guidance of the Qur'an and Sunna and tread the path and method of the pious Predecessors, whoever and wherever they are.
The Sufi master Abu 'l-Hasan al-Kharqani asserted that the human state contains seventeen chief ruinous traits, each of which resembles a great tree, with main branches, smaller branches, twigs and leaves, all laden with various kinds of negativity. At the same time, human beings were granted six tremendous powers from the Divine: the power of attraction; the power of manifesting God's blessings; the power of intercession for those who oppress themselves; the power of directing the heart of seekers; the power of guidance; and the power to move in time and space. The path from submersion in the negative traits to the unveiling of these six powers is known as the Migration to Perfected Character. Consisting of ten steps, it leads one from the ruinous aspects of the arrogant self, to achieve the state of satisfaction with the Divine decree and to achieve gnostic knowledge on the way to complete realization. Through a ten step program Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, a master of the Naqshbandi Sufi Path, describes the science of eliminating the seventeen ruinous characteristics of the tyrannical ego, to achieve purification of the soul. The sincere seeker who follows these steps, with devotion and discipline, will acheive an unveiling of the six powers which lie dormant within every human heart.
The supplications and litanies of Shaykh Ibn al-ʿArabī are not only poetically beautiful, but they also have a transformative power. These prayers have been a means to healing, enlightenment, and divine empowerment for thousands of seekers for hundreds of years. For the first time in almost a millennium the prayers before you have been allowed to breathe in the English language.
Shaykh Muḥyīddīn Ibn al-ʿArabī was born in present day Murcia, Spain in 1165/560. At a young age, he experienced many visions that set him on the path of walāya (sainthood). After accompanying the prominent scholars and sages of Southern Iberia and North Africa, he migrated eastward where he visited the celebrated centers of Islam at the time, including Mecca, Medina, Cairo, Baghdad, Hebron and Anatolia. He finally settled in Damascus where he transitioned in 1240/638. He is considered one of the most prolific Muslim thinkers, with about 250 books, most auspiciously al-Futūḥāt al-Makkiyya (Meccan Openings) and Fuṣūṣ al-Ḥikam (Bezels of Wisdom).
Shaykh Muḥyīddīn Ibn al-ʿArabī (God have mercy on his soul), affectionally known by those who value his vast spiritual and intellectual legacy as the Greatest Spiritual Master (al-Shaykh al-Akbar), is among the most effective and influential sages, guides, and teachers sent to humanity to transmit and explain the five dimensions of a holistic and healing Islam: law (sharīʿa), spiritual journeying (ṭarīqa), metaphysical reality (ḥaqīqa), divine knowledge (maʿrifa), and Absolute Truth (ḥaqq).

This book represents a humble attempt by a lover of the awliyāʾ and Shaykh al-Akbar specifically to express his love for his guide(s), by compiling, transliterating, and translating the celestial litanies of khatm al-walāya al-muḥammadiyyah (the seal of Muhammadan sainthood), a lofty spiritual rank that was granted to Shaykh al-Akbar during his life.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, mentioned that for every sickness God made a remedy.
When you go into seclusion under strong spiritual discipline, every type of illness will come before you saying, I am this sickness and the remedy for me is this. According to the level of the one performing seclusion, prescriptions will be coming from heavenly sources for many difficult medical situations. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani is carrying such knowledge of Prophetic Medicine, Tibb an-Nabawi, that he has inherited by means of his spiritual connection with the Prophet, peace be upon him, through his chain of saints from whom he took authorization (ijazah). Many have witnessed the countless patients cured through the remedies prescribed by Shaykh Nazim. These cures are derived from Prophetic Medicine that so many people use today under a variety of names: alternative medicine, Yunani medicine, traditional medicine and natural medicine. This book is the summary of that medicinal knowledge in succinct form. It is sufficient to follow it with sincere belief to acheive the cures it contains.

Cling to the sanctuary; endear yourself by serving them; For on the Day of Resurrection they're overlords.
Care not for naysayers-people of perdition.
For the Envoy never demanded wages for guidance
When he conveyed; only affectionate love for the near kin.
Shaykh Muhyi al-Din ibn 'Arabi and Sayyid Hamid b. Ahmad b. 'Ubayd Allah al-'Attar.

This advice is for this whole universe. It comes from the heart of Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, from the heart of Mahdi (as) and from the heart of the Prophet (s). These jewels are not thrown into the hands of the ignorant. You can never find these things in books. All the oceans of knowledge that had been forbidden to previous saints and hidden within the hearts of later saints will be opened.
Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani

The Mahdi is the caliph appointed by Allah. May Allah hasten his emergence! May Allah answer us! You shall see the reality of khilāfa (successor-ship) with him. When Allah has dressed him and given him permission to man-ifest his khilāfa truly, you shall see what happens. He is the manifestation of the verse and He has subjected to you what is in the skies and what is on earth entirely from Him (Jāthiya 45:13). That is Ṣāḥib al-zamān (the spiritual leader of end times). He makes himself and the common people equal. It is not mere elevation and making the lowest higher. Rather with a single look he will make the servant reach his level. The common public will have wilāya ṣughrā (minor sainthood) and the elite will have wilāya kubrā (major sainthood). To all of them, what is on the Preserved Tablet will be unveiled and visible. They will have a folding of distance from east to west and they will have the power to appear in many places. They will have with them 'Be!-and it is.'
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani (Suhba II.31)

Did you ever feel your prayers are never answered? Do you often begin asking Allah for help, then give up feeling like He is not responding? Did you know there are conditions for prayers to be answered? In this short book, Shaykh Hisham Kabbani lays out the way to pray in such a way that Allah will respond. Included are supplications for specific purposes, such as healing, easing of difficulties, protection and for whatever one truly desires in the original Arabic as well as with easy-to-pronounce English transliteration and English explanations of the purpose of each supplication.
Sacred sound must not be read analytically for the sake of control or comprehension, but with the intention of entering a space of intimate sparks of Divine Reality. This prayer, the Jaljalūtiyya, carries sounds and letters anchored in the Beautiful and Majestic Names of our Origin, sustenance, protection, guidance, and evolving journey.

Among the countless knowledges that the Prophet ﷺ deposited in the heart of Sayyidina Ali (r) are the spiritual secrets that connect heaven and earth, the breaths that undergird the sounds and voices of the Qurʾan, God's final testament and revelation to humanity. All of these can be found in the litany at hand: al-Jaljalūtiyya. This prayer should be considered the source and origin of the countless supplications written by Muslim saints throughout history, many of whom were themselves descendants of Sayyidina Ali (r).
Dr. Ali Hussain
In a narration of Imam Ahmad, Abu Dharr asked Prophet Muhammad, O Messenger of Allah, how many are the prophets? He replied, 120,000 and between their number are 315 messengers. The Holy Quran mentions twenty-five of these messengers, namely: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Zacharia, John (the Baptist), Idris (Enoch), Jonah, Hud, Shu ayb, Salih, Lot, Ilyas, Ilya sa, Dhu 'l-Kifl, Jesus and Sayyidina Muhammad, peace be upon them all. These are the messengers of God who came with holy books containing the Divine Message. The others are prophets who received divine revelation but who were not ordered to deliver it to anyone; it was for them. By way of example, all of Jacob's sons were prophets, but Joseph was the only messenger from among them. Laboriously compiled from rare manuscripts, traditional Islamic texts, and other printed source material, including ahadith and athar and the many traditional books of history, and painstakingly translated from Ottoman Turkish to English, Lore of Light depicts the perfected, blessed character and refined manners that God bestowed on His blessed prophets and messengers. This illustrious work examines the lives of the prophets and messengers of God in great detail, heretofore unknown in English literature on their lives. It depicts the great lengths to which these holy figures went - at times losing life, suffering humiliation, torment and abuse from those who opposed them, often leaving their homes, always tolerant of their attackers and seeking peace - to guide the many peoples and nations of the world towards the light which God has sent throughout time for humankind's betterment and upliftment.
