MINISTRY OF PRESENCE speaks to the heart of chaplaincy. It deals with the history and definition of chaplaincy as well as the chaplain's call to ministry and relationship to his church. Specific challenges within the framework of chaplain ministry such as pluralism, prayer, and proselytizing are also addressed. MINISTRY OF PRESENCE would easily fit in the library of those already in the chaplaincy, chaplain candidates who are preparing for ministry, or anyone who is interested in learning about chaplaincy. The principles presented are not simply theory but have been born out of the context of Whit's experience and practicing what he preaches. His insights will encourage and challenge anyone seeking to minister from a biblical perspective in any venue of chaplaincy.
What a joy to be allowed to bring this book on 1st and 2nd Corinthians to the Church. These two books have at times been misused and misinterpreted.
What great truth these Epistles give us as they probably have more to offer this generation of churches than any previous generation.
It is my hope that it will be an encouragement and help to every reader
Living in fear is like staying in a prison cell with the doors wide open and the freedom to leave. The Lord Jesus not only came to seek and to save, He also came to give us life more abundantly which includes peace in the midst of life's storms. Fearful times will come. Difficult things will happen. How we handle that initial shock of fear or even the fear that troubles us daily will determine whether we live in the Lord's peace or the enemy's prison of fear. A Fear-Less Christian Life explores the causes of fear, how it affects our lives and how to live fear-less with God's Word.
How Beautiful the Feet describes those who bring good tidings of the gospel to others. Within the pages of this book are stories of six different heroes of the faith who used their talents and lives to honor God and further the gospel and truth of God's Word. This book was designed with family devotions in mind; however, it would be a great resource for someone who learns through storytelling. The devotional is designed to be used daily over a period of 85 days. Each of the six stories is broken out into two-day increments. The first day of each missionary story introduces a Bible truth and verses to support the Bible truth. This is followed up the second day by a Bible story or passage that teaches the same truth. As the stories of the six missionaries unfold, readers will be saturated in Bible truths from forty-two different Bible passages. Each missionary story and accompanying Bible passage are beautifully interwoven and challenge readers with a reflective thought for their own lives.
This book is a modest attempt to aid God's hungry children so to find Him. Nothing here is new except in the sense that it is a discovery which my own heart has made of spiritual realities most delightful and wonderful to me. Others before me have gone much farther into these holy mysteries than I have done, but if my fire is not large it is yet real, and there may be those who can light their candle at its flame.
The decline of the Knowledge of the Holy has brought on our troubles. A rediscovery of the majesty of God will go a long way toward curing them. It is impossible to keep our moral practices sound and our inward attitudes right while our idea of God is erroneous or inadequate. If we would bring back spiritual power to our lives, we must begin to think of God more nearly as He is.
