History is written by the victors, said the victor Winston Churchill. But does that compromise the truth of what really happened?
Propaganda has always played a crucial role in turning tides and swaying opinion, and in few places is that more pronounced than in the wholesale slaughter of the native peoples in both North and South America.
When some of the people of European descent could not get what they wanted from the Native Americans, they would demonize or dehumanize them so that the American people would clamor for government intervention. This is, for example, evident by analyzing Andrew Jackson's speech to Congress on Indian removal where he would refer to the Native Americans as savages.

If you want to discover the captivating history of the Jews, then keep reading...
The Jewish people are one of the oldest living people groups on the planet. The Jews lived alongside the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Sumerians-all of whom have since disappeared from the pages of history. Yet the Jews still remain. Despite all of the odds, Jewish culture, language, laws, and religion have remained intact over the course of thousands of years.
Even after being kicked out of their homeland and scattered all over the globe, the Jews were able to hold their customs close to their heart. While in exile, they developed special rules to live by through rabbinical works, such as the Talmud, which gave them a moral compass by which to live, no matter where they might end up. This was a great source of comfort for the Jewish people even while having to live in less than encouraging environments. Their traditions kept them strong.
Even from the worst ghettoes in Europe, great minds, such as Moses Mendelssohn, came forth and illuminated the world with their ideas. This light shined so brightly that soon the full emancipation of Jews became the norm in the civilized world. But then, in the middle of the 20th century, disaster struck when the Nazis came to power in Germany.
This horrific regime brought death and destruction upon the Jewish people on a scale that the world had never seen before. Yet despite the horrors of the Holocaust, the Jews survived. Not only did they survive, but their ancient homeland of Israel was also soon revived and reborn. When Israel became a state in 1948, the great dream of having a Jewish safe haven became a reality.
This is the history of the Jews.

If you want to discover the captivating history of ancient Africa and the Kingdom of Kush, then keep reading...
Two captivating manuscripts in one book:
Africa is the continent where the first humans were born. They explored the vast land and produced the first tools. And although we migrated from that continent, we never completely abandoned it. From the beginning of time, humans lived and worked in Africa, leaving evidence of their existence in the sands of the Sahara Desert and the valleys of the great rivers, such as the Nile and Niger. Some of the earliest great civilizations were born there, and they give us an insight into the smaller kingdoms of ancient Africa.
Egypt is the main source of knowledge of many neighboring kingdoms that were just as rich and developed. Unfortunately, they were forgotten in time, as other civilizations and kingdoms replaced them as the continent's power bases. Only recently are we rediscovering the might of the Kingdom of Aksum, the political prowess of Kush, and the richness of the mysterious Punt. The early medieval kingdoms of Ghana and Mali are still being researched due to their unique pre-Muslim culture and their own outlook on Islam.
As the home of the many pharaohs, Queen Sheba, Hannibal Barca, and Mansa Musa, Africa deserves our full attention. It has stories to tell us and cultural riches to share with us. Africa is where paganism, Christianity, and Islam left their trails and created a cultural fusion that is unique to the continent. Some modern countries are popular tourist destinations, while others are war-torn lands still unable to industrialize. This polarity of Africa can be traced to ancient times, and the world-shaping events that occurred here need to be studied and understood.

How much Eastern European history do you know?
The story of Eastern Europe is one of successes and failures, competing interests, and the rise and fall of states and empires. The ancient Greek and Roman empires knew the importance of Eastern Europe for trade and settlement. Later, during the Migration Period, also known as the Barbarian Invasions, Eastern Europe became the stomping grounds for many people groups. The Visigoths, Huns, Slavs, and central Asian Turkic tribes like the Avars and Khazars all made their way into Eastern Europe.
With so many people moving in, the first states started to rise. Some of them would break apart as soon as they started, while others would form full-fledged empires. The medieval period would see some of the greatest empires of European history, like Kievan Rus, the Bulgarian Empire, Serbia, and the German Crusader states. By the early modern period, these great states would be replaced by Russia, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Ottoman Empire.
In the coming centuries, the rise of Russia, Austria, and Prussia would spell doom for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Ottomans would keep pressing into Eastern Europe. The 19th century would lay the foundations for the outbreak of World War I, which would itself lead to World War II. In the aftermath, Eastern Europe became part of the Eastern Bloc, which was dominated by the USSR until the fall of communism nearly five decades later. This book extends past contemporary histories of Eastern Europe, which usually end at the fall of the Berlin Wall, to cover more recent events, including the conflicts in Bosnia and Kosovo and the 2014 Crimean crisis.
In this book, you will learn about:

Texas is one of the most recognizable states in the United States of America (it is the second-largest, behind Alaska), and it also has a reputation for being unlike any other. This reputation is well-deserved, in part because of the state's long and often contentious history.
That history has fascinated many people not only in this nation but around the world for centuries. Five manuscripts in one book:
In contrast to their Danish and Norwegian cousins, Swedish Vikings traveled east rather than west in search of riches, land, and power. The extensive river systems of Russia provided economic and military super-highways to the adventurers from the north, who journeyed down them all the way to the Black Sea and Constantinople in search of fame and riches.
Norway is a unique country located on the fringes of Europe. Its climate and geographical position determined the lifestyle of the people inhabiting it. It was never an easy life. The constant scarcity of arable land, the vast distances they had to traverse due to the myriad of fjords and mountains, and the long and harsh winters in the inland areas made Norwegians constantly struggle for a better life.
For centuries, Denmark punched above its weight and was a major player on the European stage. Many know about the Danish Vikings and their voyages of conquest and discovery, but Denmark is more than just those medieval raiders and traders, even though interest in their adventures is at an all-time high today.
Iceland, the land of fire and ice, has a storied history. After the Norse discovered Iceland, they began to settle it, allying the island nation with Norway. However, as power shifted in Scandinavia, Iceland would come to be governed by Denmark for several centuries.

A fantasy playground in an unforgiving desert. A town that refused to fail. A gambling mecca that never closes. Las Vegas. Sin City.
Situated in a barren desert landscape, Las Vegas exists for one reason-water. Popular as a waystation for travelers, the Las Vegas Valley attracted the attention of railroad visionaries at the end of the 19th century. After purchasing land from a local widow, the developers laid out a town in 1905. Vegas hasn't slowed down since.
Building on one opportunity after another, the citizens of that railroad town refused to entertain the notion that they could fail. Buoyed by the building of Boulder Dam (now Hoover Dam) during the Great Depression, Vegas played a major role in World War II. But the war years also put Las Vegas on the radar of organized crime as a wide-open town ripe for casinos that hid extensive money-laundering operations.
Now a place for both families and high rollers, Las Vegas has no mercy when it comes to re-invention. In Sin City, the old constantly makes way for the new-and there's always something new on the horizon.
This captivating guide tells the story of Las Vegas from prehistory to the empire building of developers. In these pages, you'll read about local legends and gain insight into the heart of a city created for practical reasons but built on outrageous whimsy and the guts to carve its own way to greatness.
