In the late 1970s, the San Francisco Bay Area sportswriters labeled the growing group of born-again Christians on the San Francisco Giants the God Squad. When the God Squadders helped propel the team to a strong 1978 season, challenging the Dodgers and Reds, they often gave God the credit in post-game interviews. The press raised no objection. But in 1979, when the Giants' fortunes faded on the field, local sportswriters were quick to blame the born-again players, claiming their newfound faith had made them passive. The God Squad features present-day interviews with two of the born-again Giants of that era as well as with two of the sportswriters who covered them. You will also re-live the exciting 1978 pennant push and get inside the motives and beliefs of the six most vocal God Squadders. The book includes 14 pages of photos and a chapter on God Squad II, the second wave of born-again Giants in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including Dave Dravecky and Hall of Famer Gary Carter.

Countless performances by Jones include television, recordings, musicals, and ballets. Elayne Jones is universally recognized as one the most prominent African Americans of the 20th Century.Alongside music, Jones was also an accomplished amateur tennis player for some 43 years, until an injury forced her to give up the game. They've been laughter's catalyst for millennia. Young boys revel in anything related to them, whereas young ladies loathe everything about them. These common, uncontrollable things, while part and parcel of the human condition, are generally avoided if possible, but alas, endured by everyone at one time or another. Often the cause of embarrassment for both culprit and victim, they sometimes transform an otherwise stuffy gent into a cackling fool. Of course, we are talking about... farts!
Corrin Haskell's second book, Passin' Gas in Class, is based upon his 25 years' experience teaching 5th grade students about how farts are best handled in classroom situations. This hilarious book-for students, parents, and teachers-is sure to bring laughter and smiles... almost like a good, loud you-know-what.

He reaches the Water Hole where he meets other animals. After some bickering they learn to work together to overcome the adversities all animals face in the world.
This first children's book from Corrin Haskell, who has been teaching at public schools in Oakland for twenty-five years, features the vibrant, colorful art of Andre Jones (aka Natty Rebel), as he brings the African savannah to life.
During the Vietnam war, the U.S. Army's Corps of Engineers was tasked with removing heavy jungle cover along roadways that were being used by the Viet Cong and NVAs to attack passing convoys in South Vietnam. A unique tractor was developed to cut down and eliminate certain areas of the jungle-called the Rome Plow crawler tractor-and it emerged to spawn a new movement in South Vietnam called Land Clearing.
Some of the gritty land clearers, as they were called, all of whom experienced harsh, dangerous jungle conditions, wrote stories about their arduous and hazardous involvement in the jungle clearing process.
The true stories in this book are a testament to these combat engineers who served in the treacherous task of clearing away the enemy's jungle cover during the height of the Vietnam War. Clearly, the actions of these unsung heroes saved countless lives during the war, and this book pays homage to them all.
Have you ever blown it? Or failed miserably? Have you felt that your fellow Christians and your church have been your harshest critics? You're not alone. Throughout history, God has tapped the shoulders of the most flawed people in the Bible to impact the world on His behalf, and yet that's not what many of us experience from our fellow Christians when we stumble or fall. But did you know that God has a different protocol for us? There's hardly a man or woman in the Bible who didn't fail greatly that God used for His glory. And if God can use them, then He can certainly use you. Despite your past. Despite what people say about you. Despite the magnitude of your transgression. We are not called on to be perfect but to be perfected through Jesus. Mike Lee walks us through one of the most painful chapters in his life and through biblical truth he lays out the framework for how we move forward from sin to where we can ultimately accept and offer forgiveness not only for ourselves but in our relationships and in our churches. Come along as Mike guides us to a better understanding of what God intends when He welcomes home the prodigal, uses the harlot, or anoints the murderer. When we are at our worst, God is at His best.

It's always fun to listen to children talking. This book will resonate with teachers of young children. Coloring pages at the end add to this child-centric book. As a teacher of young children, the many interesting conversations I have had with the 'curious little minds' have remained an imprint in my heart. Fun conversations about rainbows, nature, shapes etc., have inspired me to share just a glimpse of my beautiful life experience as a Preschool Teacher. I have added another precious dimension to my life. I am a grandmother now. The passion of a teacher never fades. My lessons have come home. I am able to hear discussions between grandchildren. The rhetoric, Daadi said... and Daddi showed me..., can be heard for authenticity, at the end of discussions, between two grandchildren.
