Although small, relative to other national parks, Waterton is one of the most unique and scenic in all of Canada, largely due to the enormous variety of colourful rock prevalent throughout the area, striking mountains (composed of all that colourful rock), and a number of stunning lakes. Easy access to all corners of this incredible mountain environment is made possible by an extensive, well-developed and well-maintained system of trails.
The tiny but quaint town of Waterton lies on the shores of the Canadian Rockies' deepest lake, Upper Waterton Lake, and is surrounded by picturesque mountains. Perched above the lake is the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel, one of the most photographed hotels in Canada. Throughout the summer, all services are available in and around the townsite, making weekend or week-long trips to Waterton ideal.
Waterton is a visually breathtaking feast that everyone should experience. Enjoy!

Trekking the Continental Divide from the U.S. border to Kakwa Lake is a demanding adventure. In this fourth edition of the bestselling guidebook devoted to Canada's 1200-kilometre Great Divide Trail (GDT), Dustin Lynx helps hikers piece together the myriad individual routes that form a continuous trail along the Divide.
Outlining the seven major sections of the GDT, Lynx breaks the trail into shorter, more attainable segments and thoroughly describes the terrain and condition of each. Not only are these trail segments invaluable for planning shorter trips along the GDT, Lynx's pre-trip planning advice will also prove indispensable for long-distance hikers overcoming such daunting logistical challenges as resupply, navigation, and access.
Complete with new colour photos, detailed maps, and updated information, Hiking Canada's Great Divide - 4th Edition will continue to serve domestic and international hikers alike in navigating this remarkable mountain wilderness trail.
You can support the Great Divide Trail by visiting The Great Divide Trail Association.
In 2014, twenty-four-year-old geography student David Norwell set off on a daunting kayak journey in search of purpose in his life. A jigsaw puzzle of jagged mainland and over 50,000 islands--stretching from southern Vancouver Island to Alaska--lay in front of him. A self-described ordinary kid from small-to-medium-town, British Columbia, David had paddled through the Gulf Islands and guided youth groups on a nine-day journey from Nanaimo to Victoria. But nothing could prepare him for this.
For the next several months, David navigated the waters off the coastal British Columbia, recording his observations, musings, and daily activities in a notebook. The result is this one-of-a-kind travelogue, filled with more than 700 whimsical watercolour illustrations of coastlines, local plant and animal species, camping supplies, and portraits of people he met along the way. He wrote about the nature of solitude, the search for meaning and adventure, the wildlife he encountered, the survival skills he acquired, and the existence of his own privilege. A Complex Coast is an unforgettable coming-of-age story that will appeal to kayakers, naturalists, and anyone looking for adventure.
