Seeing this book come to life has been something of a bittersweet experience. Reading the lyrics without music really brings home the stark reality of what Scott was going through and at the same time highlights the talent of someone who I consider to be one of the best songwriters in the world. This would've been a different release had Scott been involved but we all felt it was important that his lyrics be celebrated and given the spotlight they deserve. As Scott has said, these words were always meant to be accompanied by music, but the impact of digesting them without is no less great. Pick up this book of words, hold it, share it and immerse yourself in the world Scott created by opening not only his heart but his whole soul to the world. Handel's Coronation Anthems were composed rapidly from September to October of 1727, while new in his post as the director of the Chapel Royal. The occasion was the coronation of the new king, George II, on October 22, 1727. The performance featured the vocal soloists, chorus and orchestra under the composer's direction in Westminster Abbey. The anthems soon became popular and were subsequently used on other ceremonial events. Zadok the Priest has been performed at every single English coronation since the 1727 premiere.
Offered here is the beautifully engraved edition prepared by Dr. Clark McAlister for the now-defunct American publisher E.F. Kalmus in 1986. Along with reproducing the engraving in the highest quality, this new vocal score has been enlarged to the larger A4 format, which makes the chorus singer's job much easier when rehearsing and performing. Serenissima Music is proud to br the exclusive publisher for Clark McAlister's outstanding catalogue of superb ochestrations and authoritative editions.

From the tortured soul of Robert Schumann came the music that practically launched the Romantic Era. A firm believer in music's ability to capture and express feelings, thoughts, and emotions, Schumann poured his heart into every note he composed. The very definition of a Romantic, Schumann created a majority of his piano compositions for his beloved wife, the renowned pianist Clara Schumann. Another of his most famous pieces, Album for the Young, was composed in honor of the couple's three (a number that soon swelled to seven) children. In an era that included names like Brahms, Schubert, Wagner, and Chopin, Robert Schumann's emotionally-charged music lifted him into the pantheon of great composers. Nearly his entire catalogue is represented in this newly-reissued edition, including: - Album for the Young - Selected Works - Sonatas - Selected Masterpieces 1 & 2 - Virtuoso Music

Strauss' opera was originally composed to serve as a kind of an added commentary to a 1912 performance of Moliere's classic play Le Bourgeois gentilhomme (in German translation), for which he also provided incidental music. This unusual premiere took place in Stuttgart in October of 1912 but was not well-received. After a couple of additional unsuccessful performances, Strauss and Hofmannsthal (who wrote the libretto for the opera) decided to add a prologue to the opera to explain how the classical Greek tragedy ended up mixed with a farce set in Paris performed by a commedia dell'arte troupe. This is the version performed today, and its premiere took place in Vienna's Hofoper on October 4, 1916 with Franz Schalk conducting the cast and orchestra.
Offered here is a beautifully reproduced facsimile of the vocal score arranged by Otto Singer which was published in 1916 by the Berlin firm Adolf Fürstner. Unlike so many reprints one encounters these days, this one has been very carefully checked to make sure the entire work is present. To enhance its usefulness for performers, students and those interested in opera, it has also been printed in a very readable A4 (8.27 x 11.69) format.
Holst's popular suite was named for the St. Paul's Girls' School of Hammersmith, London - where he was the music director from 1904 until his death thirty years later. Composed in 1912 as a token of gratitude for the installation of a sound-proof teaching studio, where Holst composed this and nearly all subsequent works. The four movement suite was also premiered at St. Paul's by the school orchestra under Holst's direction in the winter months of 1913.
Not long after the premiere, the school purchased wind instruments, resulting in the addition of parts for flutes, oboe, clarinets and horn to the original string orchestra setting. The premiere date of this amended setting is unknown but the extra parts seem to have been added by 1920. Clark McAlister's new edition the setting with winds is based on the composer's manuscript, which differs in several respects from the string orchestra setting published in 1922. McAlister's score was first issued in 2006 by the now-defunct publisher E.F. Kalmus. Serenissima is proud to make this outstanding work available and is now the exclusive publisher for not only the study score offered here but the large score and orchestra parts.
Prokofiev started work on his first numbered symphony in the later half of 1916, composing the bulk of it while on a country holiday to escape the street fighting in Petrograd during the February revolution, finally completing the work on September 10, 1917. Inspired by his encounter in conducting class with the works of Haydn and Mozart, the symphony features clear and light orchestration Mozart in particular would have appreciated. The premiere took place in Petrograd on April 18, 1918 with the composer conducting the newly formed State Orchestra, formerly the Court Orchestra of the Tsar.
Editor Clinton F. Nieweg used all available sources in preparation of this outstanding edition of this landmark 20th century work. With a new clear engraving, the young Prokofiev's mastery of orchestral writing is readily apparent. First issued by the now-defunct publisher Kalmus in 2010, Serenissima is most pleased to offer this outstanding edition in study score format, along with the full score and orchestral parts. Serenissima is proud to serve as the only authorized publisher for Mr. Nieweg's outstanding editions.
