Connection. Belonging. Love.
We all crave them. And many of us are lucky enough to be born into a setting where they are already in place to support our growth and understanding of the world.
But author Judi Logan had to actively pursue these three things as she attempted to piece together the story of her existence.
As a teen, the woman she called Mom divulged a secret that tore Judi apart, a secret that had destroyed a close family over a decade before. Armed with this information, Judi struggled to find peace till well into adulthood when she took it upon herself to search out her true parents, discover where she belonged, and knit together the strands of the family that had been severed upon her birth.
A true story of faith and forgiveness, The Unraveling follows Judi's path as she disentangles the pieces of her history to restore family and hope.
Bringing peace to herself, cultivating the bonds of love among her connections, and embracing her new truth, Judi bravely follows God's plan for her to reunite a broken family a generation after it shattered.
Beautiful and compelling, The Unraveling tells how Judi rooted herself in God's love so she could finally know where she belongs and discover the true reach of the branches in her family tree.
Have you been deeply hurt by a family member?
Has your family, which should have loved, nourished, and protected you, inflicted traumas that still affect your life today?
Are you struggling daily to repair the damage they caused?
Some people are fortunate to be born into families with whom they love spending time. These members are compassionate towards each other, communicate their needs effortlessly, and staunchly support one another. Conversely, for others, a simple incoming call from a family member can be a source of dread.
A 'toxic family' describes a family with dysfunctional relationships harmful to the emotional and psychological health of its members. These families are characterized by behaviors and dynamics such as emotional and psychological abuse, manipulation, denial, minimization of problems, distortion of reality, and unequal power and control.
Adult children of toxic family members often grapple with immense guilt, a sense of obligation, and shame, feeling compelled to keep family secrets, even at the cost of their own well-being.
This manual is recommended if your family:
These are just a few common signs of a toxic family. Each family might display these traits differently or combine them in unique ways.

However, you might feel:
Take action now, before it's too late.
Breaking free from the toxic grip of family members is a winding path, but it is the best gift you can give to your life and your mental health.

In the Summertime: true stories of a multigenerational family knit together through summers and holidays on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin.
The author's childhood at the little red cottage was filled with dramatic summer storms, unfortunate incidents involving bunk beds and outhouses, and an uncle with a talent for inventive pranks. There was a secret fort hidden in ancient cottonwoods, an unwanted critter in the house, fireworks on the Fourth of July, and rainy afternoons with pastimes that fed the imaginations of seven children.
