A USA Today Bestseller
The ultimate guide to changing jobs and advancing your career. --Adam Grant, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Think Again and Hidden Potential, and host of the TED podcast WorkLife
Three innovators offer a road-tested framework for career development that helps anyone make real progress on their path when they switch jobs.
Each year, an estimated 1 billion people switch jobs worldwide. A lucky few stumble into the role of their dreams, but hundreds of millions are disappointed. What if, when looking for a job, we could make more informed choices to better select the opportunity we seize? What if the power to move along our career paths lies with each of us, as opposed to hiring managers or the market?
According to the Jobs to Be Done theory of product design--customers don't simply buy products; they recruit them to do specific jobs that solve a problem. Job Moves adopts this model to view jobs as positions we hire to help us make progress in our lives and careers. Based on research conducted with over a thousand professionals at all stages of their careers, Ethan Bernstein, Michael B. Horn, and Bob Moesta find that this notion bears out no matter your age, stage, or trajectory.
Key to this new, universal approach is understanding our priorities at the specific moment when we make each move. This team has created a process to help individuals identify the current circumstances driving them to look for new opportunities, the experiences they hope to gain in a new job, what tradeoffs they'll gladly make in return, and how to learn-before-switching if a new job will deliver. The result encourages job seekers to look beyond a title or company for a more holistic view and ask not what you can do in a job, but what a potential job can do for you.
Full of useful activities and tools, Job Moves offers the timeless framework of our generation to help anyone create a career that will be happier and more fulfilling.

They Really Love?
Based on 25 years of experience working with thousands of leaders - from early-career product managers to CEOs - Never Search Alone gives readers a time-tested, multi-step process (with exercises, tools, and templates) to find the right job now.
Three breakthrough ideas animate Never Search Alone:
1. Job Search Council - Because your emotional balance is the most important thing you need to manage in the job search, you need a support group of fellow job seekers that will help turn your insecurity and anxiety into hope, motivation, and accountability.
2. Candidate-Market Fit - You are the 'product' in a job search. Thus, before you begin networking and interviewing, you need to identify precisely what you want and what the market wants. This key step will help you figure out the intersection of your hopes, dreams, and market realities.
3. Four Legs to the Negotiations Stool - Never Search Alone shows you how to interview and then negotiate for the four key things that will set you up to
succeed in your new job: salary, budget, resources, and support.
To accelerate your career and make your dreams more achievable, Never Search Alone.

THIS IS A MUST READ! It is the first and the original book of quantitative questions from finance job interviews. Painstakingly revised over 30 years and 25 editions, Heard on The Street has been shaped by feedback from hundreds of readers. With well over 75,000 copies in print, its readership is unmatched by any competing book.
The revised 25th edition contains 242 quantitative questions collected from actual job interviews in investment banking, investment management, and options trading. The interviewers use the same questions year-after-year, and here they are with detailed solutions! This edition also includes 267 non-quantitative actual interview questions, giving a total of more than 500 actual finance job interview questions.
Questions that appeared in (or are likely to appear in) traditional corporate finance or investment banking job interviews are indicated with a bank symbol in the margin (72 of the 242 quant questions and 196 of the 267 non-quant questions). This makes it easier for corporate finance candidates to go directly to the questions most relevant to them. Most of these questions also appeared in capital markets interviews and quant interviews. So, they should not be skipped over by capital markets or quant candidates unless they are obviously irrelevant.
There is also a recently revised section on interview technique based on feedback from interviewers worldwide. The quant questions cover pure quant/logic, financial economics, derivatives, and statistics. They come from all types of interviews (corporate finance, sales and trading, quant research, etc.), and from all levels of interviews (undergraduate, MS, MBA, PhD). The first seven editions of Heard on the Street contained an appendix on option pricing. That appendix was carved out as a standalone book many years ago and it is now available in a recently revised edition: Basic Black-Scholes.
Dr. Crack did PhD coursework at MIT and Harvard, and graduated with a PhD from MIT. He has won many teaching awards, and has publications in the top academic, practitioner, and teaching journals in finance. He has degrees/diplomas in Mathematics/Statistics, Finance, Financial Economics and Accounting/Finance. Dr. Crack taught at the university level for over 25 years including four years as a front line teaching assistant for MBA students at MIT, and four years teaching undergraduates, MBAs, and PhDs at Indiana University. He has worked as an independent consultant to the New York Stock Exchange and to a foreign government body investigating wrong doing in the financial markets. He previously held a practitioner job as the head of a quantitative active equity research team at what was the world's largest institutional money manager.
Strategies that successful career changers use--and how to make them work for you.
Nearly all of us have entertained the notion of changing careers. Feeling burned out at work, unfulfilled, or just plain unhappy with whatever we're doing, we long to reinvent ourselves on a new and different career path. But how do we make this transition successfully?
In this update of the groundbreaking classic, bestselling author Herminia Ibarra presents a model for career reinvention that flies in the face of everything we've learned from career experts--and is tailor-made for changing careers in today's uncertain world. Career transition is not a linear path toward some predetermined identity, according to Ibarra, but a crooked journey along which we try on a host of possible selves we might become. Successful reinvention comes not from deciphering and analyzing our past, but from inventing and testing our possible futures.
Using new examples of people in different stages of a career transition, Ibarra identifies the three critical strategies--experiment with new professional activities and identities, interact in new networks of people, and make sense of what is happening to us in light of emerging possibilities--that all successful career changers use. She shows how you can use these strategies to:
Now with action-oriented exercises to help you work successfully through your own career transition, this updated edition gives you the tools to discover a new path and find success in your new career.
