I don't understand a lot of things - I guess that's why I ask so many questions. But one thing I do know: Santa Claus is real! How do I know? Because one year, I almost ruined Christmas. My curiosity is always getting me in trouble. You know what they say - curiosity killed the cat, and this one Christmas...

I Have Questions, Lots and Lots of Questions is inspired by David Lane when he was six years old. The story is told from the perspective of a little boy. He is so excited about Christmas and can't stop asking various questions. It's Christmas Eve, so he wants to know things, like why this celebration is only once a year, what Santa's life is like, and everything related to this date. His parents do their best to satisfy his insatiable curiosity; however, there are so many things to learn. We can watch this adorable boy as he conveys his excitement. The adorable illustrations by Caleb McBee highlight the tenderness of this marvelous tale.
David Lane expresses himself naturally, even in his bio where he answers some of the questions raised in the story. His narration is great and offers us friendly characters. At the same time, he shares good values by showing a patient and loving family.
I loved Caleb McBee's illustrations. He sometimes uses different angles, not just frontal images, and highlights textures well. In addition, the colors reflect harmony. Both the story and the visual content convey a lot of love.
I Have Questions, Lots and Lots of Questions is an excellent option to inspire children's curiosity and interest in Christmas.

What if you did something, and everyone misunderstood what you did? What if they thought you were being bad, but you thought you were doing something good? What if you were going to get in trouble? Would you have the courage to speak up and tell the truth even if it was really scary and hard to do?
A young boy's grandfather tells the story of when he tried to find a way to help his struggling parents save the family farm and almost got in big trouble. The Banana Farm is a touching tale of trust and loving sacrifice. Sometimes things are not what they appear to be. Sometimes we have to trust that what we are doing is right and accept that it may be hard to explain or we may get in trouble anyway. Sometimes we have to decide to make that sacrifice and hope what happens will work out for the best.
Join us for an inspiring tale about a boy's decision to love above all else, regardless of the consequences.
The twentieth century was an era of socialist revolutionary transformations and significant social-democratic reforms. By the twenty-first century, these socialist inspired movements have largely disappeared, their ideologies have been disavowed, and their institutions dismantled and replaced by global neoliberal capitalism.
This book explores the social, political and economic forces driving these movements in Western Europe and in the USSR, explaining their initial triumphs and how they eventually faltered under the influence of global neoliberalism. David Lane examines the nature and appeal of neoliberal capitalism and analyses current social and political proposals for its reform or replacement, including statist forms of capitalism; social-democratic and ecological globalization reforms; self-sustaining autonomous communities; and globalised forms of social-democracy or socialism.
Outlining his own proposal to replace global neoliberal capitalism with political systems based on a combination of market socialism and state planning, Lane provides important insights for ways forward, and a challenge for parties seeking political and economic alternatives.
The play presents the life of King Louis XVI of France during the French Revolution and is based on the tradition dating from the seventeenth century of an unfulfilled request by Jesus Christ through St. Margaret Mary Alacoque that, to avert a future catastrophe in the realm, Louis' great grandfather, Louis XIV, must consecrate France to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In return for this act of humility, the Lord promised to shower France with graces and blessings. Louis XIV and the kings who followed him delayed in making the consecration until, finally, on June 17, 1789, one hundred years later to the day, the Third Estate of the Estates General declared itself the National Assembly, challenging King Louis XVI and initiating the French Revolution. Louis was later stripped of his powers and sent to the guillotine to be put to death like a common criminal; France thereupon became engulfed in the horrors of the Revolutionary Terror. This play, therefore, like the ancient Greek tragedies, has a religious dimension in the concepts of divine retribution and the iniquity of the fathers visited upon the sons to the third and fourth generation (cf., The Bible, Euripides, Shakespeare).
Have you ever wondered about those noises in the middle of the night? Do you ever feel scared of the dark and the unknown?
Every culture has a scary story about a creature that comes after misbehaving children. Russian folklore gives us Baba Yaga, an ogress who steals, cooks, and eats her victims; in the Middle East, the Jinn influences children for good or evil; European cultures have Krampus, sort of an anti-Santa Claus who punishes misbehaving children; El Coco, a mythical ghost monster in Hispanic cultures, abducts misbehaving children; Namahage, a Japanese demon, goes door to door looking for naughty children; and, in China, Tiger Aunt is a child-eating tiger disguised as an old woman. In the rural South, we have the Booger Bear, who will get you if you don't watch out
When a young girl hears a bump in the night, she thinks her worst fears have been realized: the Booger Bear has come to get her But soon she learns he is not at all what she thought he was. Instead of being big and scary, the Booger Bear is actually afraid, too. She is able to help him out of a jam, and the two become nighttime friends, sharing blueberry pie and glasses of milk.
Innovation is nowadays a question of life and death for many of the economies of the western world. Yet, due to our generally reductionist scientific paradigm, invention and innovation are rarely studied scientifically. Most work prefers to study its context and its consequences. As a result, we are as a society, lacking the scientific tools to understand, improve or otherwise impact on the processes of invention and innovation. This book delves deeply into that topic, taking the position that the complex systems approach, with its emphasis on 'emergence', is better suited than our traditional approach to the phenomenon. In a collection of very coherent papers, which are the result of an EU-funded four year international research team's effort, it addresses various aspect of the topic from different disciplinary angles. One of the main emphases is the need, in the social sciences, to move away from neo-darwinist 'population thinking' to 'organization thinking' if we want to understand social evolution. Another main emphasis is on developing a generative approach to invention and innovation, looking in detail at the contexts within which invention and innovation occur, and how these contexts impact on the chances for success or failure. Throughout, the book is infused with interesting new insights, but also presents several well-elaborated case studies that connect the ideas with a substantive body of 'real world' information.
In this investigation into the criminal underworld of the cities and villages of the Italian South, David Lane provides an unrivaled expos of the operations of the Mafia today
From Naples, home of Mafia-controlled mozzarella and toxic waste, through the no less rotten Calabria, to Sicily, cradle of Cosa Nostra, the hold of the Mafia on Southern Italy is as strong as ever. Following a multi-decade career as a journalist in Italy, David Lane uses his extensive contacts into the world of organized crime to demonstrate how globalization has transformed the Mafia into more than simply a global phenomenon. In painful detail, Into the Heart of the Mafia describes the unceasing mafia pressure endured by priests and politicians, businessmen, trade unionists, and ordinary citizens, and the risks undertaken by the policemen, judges, and politicians who fight to weaken the Mafia's influence. A travelogue with the most deadly of implications, Into the Heart of the Mafia stands as a guide like no other into the darkest side of Italy.
