From the back cover of Never Again: Will Jews once again meekly submit or will they stand and fight? This is the question that Rabbi Meir Kahane asks the American Jewish community in a book controversial and explosive for what it dares to say as The Autobiography of Malcolm X and Soul On Ice were for their defiant and passionate messages. Meir Kahane, founder of the Jewish Defense League, shows how the older generation of American Jewry has abandoned and betrayed their fellow Jews, their personal heritage, and their children's identities in their rush for respectability and assimilation. He details how the dormant tiger of anti-Semitism is once again rousing itself and stalking the land. And he vividly describes what is being done and must be done to re-assert Jewish pride and power, so that Jews will answer with one voice when asked again go to the slaughter - Never Again
On Faith and Redemption is a powerful, all-encompassing statement of Jewish belief by Rabbi Meir Kahane. It relates not only to a Jew in his personal behavior, but to the individual Jew as an integral member of his community and his people. Many quotes from Biblical and Talmudic sources emphasize Rabbi Kahane's far-reaching philosophy. This small book was first published in Jerusalem in Hebrew in 1980. It filled along-felt need for answers to questions that are asked by many people, and wasso well received that it was reprinted six times over the years. The essays in Kahane, the Magazine of the Jewish Idea, deal with a wide range of topics related to Judaism, the State of Israel, and the Jewish people all over, with an emphasis on the Jews in America.
The essays reflect the views Rabbi Kahane expressed in his speeches, books and articles as well as in his televised speeches and interviews. They are as relevant to our lives today as they were when they were written.
Between 1976 and 1990, close to 3,000 copies of each issue of Kahane were mailed out at no charge to synagogues, national and local Jewish organizations and Jewish newspapers and magazines. The aim was to give Jewish decision-makers and the entire Jewish public an opportunity to read the authentic Jewish idea. For that reason, each issue carried this notice: All material in Kahane may be reprinted without permission of the editors.
Forty-six issues of Kahane appeared from 1976 to 1990. Many of them can be found in large public and university libraries, but the essays will be easily accessible when the entire set is printed.
