In my extensive experience teaching disaster survival courses, I've consistently emphasized that true preparedness extends far beyond merely stockpiling food, water, and securing shelter. While these basics may suffice for short-term emergencies, enduring a prolonged crisis demands a comprehensive skill set and strategic planning.
This book is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate any disaster scenario effectively. By mastering the following areas, you'll transform from a passive preparer into an adept survivor:Drawing from my experience teaching Disaster Survival to diverse groups across five countries, this book consolidates practical insights and proven strategies to empower you in facing any disaster with confidence and competence.
Stay safe and prepared! An SHTF preparation, disaster preparation, or any emergency preparation are not something you do in a day or a week. It is not as simple as reading a book, then buying a few cans of food, a flashlight, and some BOB bags. It is much more than that. It is a mindset where your only goal is to safeguard you and your family from any disaster that happens in your area for years to come.
The shock of a larger scale disaster such as an earthquake, tornado, hurricane, or a chemical or biological attack on humanity can happen in a matter of seconds. Once any of these disasters happen, the reaction can sometimes be even fatal. But being prepared for anything comes your way can give you the peace of mind and train your brain to act instead of just being in the shock and awe state of mind.
While your first reactions aren't necessarily wrong, a lot of factors impact your pre-written emergency plan. However, what does matter is that you act. In a post-SHTF scenario, you want to take action rather than finding out what happened. Learning what is going on around you is of secondary concern to survival. Focus on what your gut is telling you, not what the news is saying.
Surviving any disaster requires well thought out planning, a good stockpile of gear and supplies, training and preparation along with a cool calm and collective mindset to know what action to take and what not to take. A wrong decision in this situation can be fatal.
But even with all the planning and stockpile of gear, how you actually live through a true major scale attack or a disaster is what we talk about in this book. In this third and final book, I lay out some specific decisions you have to make along with some specific actions you will have to take to survive the disaster.
When I taught survival course, the three most asked questions my students asked:
One thing to remember before you get anxious to find the answers to these questions that there is no one size fits all survival solution when facing a major scale natural or unnatural disaster.
My goal is to prepare your mind to the degree where you can assess your own surroundings and have the ability to determine which solution is the right one for you. I give you all the options and tell you about which ones are for what situation. I also tell you the pros and cons of each, but ultimately it is your decision to pick the right ones for you.
After reading this book, you will know:
Let's get to work.
Survival situations often don't start off as such, like a day hike or a fishing trip. It is only when things go wrong that you are suddenly faced with life and death survival situation. Therefore, you want to plan for the unexpected. Before you set off into the woods, take the time to go through all contingencies.
Disasters often don't come with advance notice, nor does it send you any early warning signs. So learning how to survive in the wilderness can truly save you and your family's life. After I started hiking, backpacking, and camping out for many years in 17 different countries, I have mastered the art of survival in the woods. Because I have done it for so long, and I will tell you, it was a 'learn as I go' process for me. But for you, it may not be that easy. Why may you ask? What if there is a severe natural or man-made disaster happens suddenly, what if a war breaks out? Would you be ready?
I have been teaching hiking, camping, and backpacking for many years throughout many countries, but only within the last three years, a group of people in Columbia asked me to teach them survival tactics in the woods. That question opened my mind and eyes wide open; I knew why they had asked me to teach them, but what if similar civil and or political unrest or war breaks out in our country, how many of us would be ready? More importantly, how many of us would actually survive?
I believe every one of us needs to know at least the basics of wilderness survival like what bushcraft skills you need, what bushcraft gears and supplies you will require along with how to navigate yourself in the wilderness. This way, if you ever need it, you will have the knowledge. Along with the knowledge, let's make a survival pack ready just in case. In that pack, we can put a few pieces of necessary gear and some must-have items. Once you do these two things (first gather the basic knowledge of survival, second get the emergency pack ready), I believe you will sleep better at night.
At a quick glance, this is what you will master after reading this book:
Lastly, I know there are dozens of similar books out there, so you may ask why this one? Well, I practice what I preach. It took me years to learn, practice, and perfect the skills that I shared here. So what you will read here comes directly from my personal experience and not from Google search.
Let's get started
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, and obesity. I lived a busy life, and I didn't have a lot of money. Taking the time to follow a strict diet and exercise routine or paying out a lot of money for a gym membership or personal training was out of the question.
At first, I tried training for a marathon as my younger brother Bobby was a cross country marathon runner. But after the second day with him, I realized my body was not fit for marathon practice. Bobby's coach then told me about hiking, and since he was an avid hiker himself, he took me on two hiking trips, and I was hooked.
That was 12 years ago. Fast forward to the present, I now am an experienced long-distance hiker, I traveled and hiked in over 17 countries. I no longer have diabetes or high blood pressure. I am also a certified hiking coach for people with diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.
I teach and promote family hiking, where a family with kids of any ages can go for a hike as a mini camping trip and have a fun time.
I wrote this Complete Hiking and Backpacking Guide book for people who are looking to get into shape while enjoying their time outdoors, especially with their family and kids. Think of hiking as a mini camping trip where you get to enjoy the beautiful nature while getting into shape and spend quality time with your family.
In this book, I start with the very basics of hiking backpacking and go into what Hiking Gears and camping supplies you need and why you need them. I teach you how you can get started slowly and then work your way up to the advanced hiking phase, where you will be able to take longer hiking trips.
I teach you how to deal with many emergencies along the trails, how to choose the perfect trail and navigate yourself around, how and what to pack for various hiking trips, how to hike with family and pets. I also share many Do's and Don'ts, along with some of the greatest hiking trails in the USA and around the world.

I know there are many books out there about hiking, but I know mine will stand out as this is the only book where I teach you everything from my own personal experience and not what I learned from other books.
Let's get started to a brighter and better tomorrow and a new beginning to a happier and healthier life.
Good luck
